You are only responsible to not collide in what is in your forward field of vision. There are no rules. The only guideline is shortest distance. Going against the main flow of traffic or crossing all traffic is accepted as long as you take care of what is in front of you.
The pecking order is simple. Might makes right, except cows. Inconvenience makes right and then might. In descending order of who gets the right-of-way; cow, semi-trucks (lorries), trucks, cars, tuk-tuks, moto, bicycle, pedestrians, goats, dogs, cats, chickens and rats. If you know where you land in the order, than you are free to move freely about. Being on moto gives you an independence to maneuver around any larger vehicle in your path and to defer to any larger mass overtaking you.
The cow makes her own rules. She moves slowly and sometimes unexpectedly changes directions and runs. Honking might seem to encourage her to move out of one's way but she takes her sweet time. . .
